Starting first with Southwest Airlines.
Google's hard at work building up Google Pay to be as useful as what iPhone users have had for years with Apple Pay/Wallet, and we recently saw another example of those efforts.
As noted by 9to5Google, Google Pay now allows you to save boarding passes to the app so you can easily access your info and scan your code at the gate when traveling by air.
After ordering a ticket, screenshots show that the Southwest app gives an option for saving your pass to Google Pay. From here, you can easily access your boarding pass, payment methods, and everything else within the Google Pay app.
Southwest is the first and only airline that's been spotted supporting this feature, but we should see additional brands jump on board in the near future. It was also announced in mid-March that the Las Vegas Monorail was paving the way for transit passes with Google Pay, making it very evident that Google wants the app to replace your physical wallet as much as possible.
