The top of the line.
The GoPro Hero7 comes in three different models: the $399.99 Black, the $299.99 Silver, and the $199.99 White. Right now they are available for pre-order at several retailers, including Amazon, B&H, and Best Buy.
While we have seen a lot of budget cameras recently, including lineups from Yi Technology and even GoPro's own Hero action camera, the new Hero7 plans to put all those to shame with some of the more advanced features we have seen.
The Hero7 Black will be the flagship model. It can record up to 60 fps in 4K with plenty of lower resolutions available. For still images, you'll have 12MP photos and a burst mode up to 30 fps. Beyond the advanced 4K video, the Black will also have GoPro's HyperSmooth video stabilization. The new technology will be vital for removing the shakes that often accompany action camera footage. The Hero7 Black will also be water resistant up to 33 feet and come with a two-inch touch intuitive LCD screen. Expect to find plenty of other features like face and scene detection, SuperPhoto Auto HDR photo enhancement, and more. A few of the features unique to the Black versus the other models include Raw photos, live streaming, and TimeWarp video. You'll even have voice control, which is a great feature for operating the camera from a distance without a remote.
The Hero7 Silver has many of those same features, especially the customization options. The big difference is that it will only record 4K video up to 30 fps and takes 10MP stills. It still has the video stabilization but lacks the new HyperSmooth technology. The waterproof housing and intuitive touchscreen remain the same. The Hero7 White does not have 4K, so it only goes up to 1080p at 60fps, but it will have image stabilization and the same 10MP sensor as the Silver. It also comes with many of the other features as well, including voice control. One key difference is the Black will have a removable battery, allowing you to hot swap batteries in the field, while the other two have a battery built into them.
All three models will release Sept. 30.
