The Galaxy A7 is Samsung's first smartphone with triple rear cameras

Samsung's mid-range Galaxy A7 is now live in South Korea, heading to global markets shortly.

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy A7 in its home market, marking the company's debut in the triple camera category. The primary 24MP sensor is joined by an 8MP 120-degree wide-angle lens, and a 5MP module for adjusting the depth of field. The 24MP camera also leverages four-to-one pixel binning to take better photos in low-light conditions. Up front, there's a 24MP shooter.

Interestingly, the Galaxy A7 has a fingerprint sensor mounted on the side — much like Sony's implementation — with an indent located underneath the volume buttons on the right of the device. Samsung is bringing the Live Focus portrait mode feature from the Galaxy S and Note series, as well as AR Emoji, Pro Lighting Mode, and Selfie Focus.

The phone features a 6.0-inch FHD+ (1080×2220) Super AMOLED display, an unnamed SoC clocked at 2.2GHz (possibly the same Exynos 7885 Octa as the Galaxy A8), up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, microSD slot, NFC with Samsung Pay, and a 3300mAh battery. The phone also has Bixby, but there isn't a physical button to invoke the assistant. The phone will be available in four color options at launch: black, blue, gold, and pink.

The Galaxy A7 will be debuting in Asian markets in the coming weeks, and Samsung will also bring the device to select European markets from this fall and will expand to additional markets in the near future. No details on pricing just yet, but it will be in the vicinity of $400.

If three cameras doesn't do it for you, Samsung is all set to unveil its first phone with four rear cameras on October 11.
