Kids old enough to start playing games? Check out these titles.

So your kiddos are now old enough to know their controllers aren't really turned on while you let them pretend-play. Now what? You probably don't want them playing your Overwatch game so that you can hear your heart audibly break when they plummet your score. If this sounds anywhere remotely close to your scenario, it's time to find the kids some fun PlayStation 4 games of their own! Heck, even if you don't have children, these games are still pretty fun for adults too. Here are the best PS4 kids games available right now.

Minecraft Starter Collection - PlayStation 4

Consider adding Minecraft to your PlayStation library as fun for the whole family. Although it's a single-player game, there's a multiple save option available so everyone can have their own world to create. If your kids are old enough to creatively build their world, but not quite old enough to battle the Enderman and zombies, you can always set the mode to "Peaceful" so that they'll be left alone to build. Minecraft might be low on the graphics scale, but the creators always add new content like donkeys, horses, and botanical magic. So get the creative juices flowing!

My first platformer

Crash Bandicoot N. Trilogy

Many of us remember what it was like to rip the plastic off of our brand new Crash Bandicoot game for the original PlayStation. After school, we all spent hours beating the levels, looking for the secret floors, and trying to collect all of the gem shards. Get your kids collecting all of those delicious Wumpa fruits to gain lives and spin their way to the top! You can even make it a family adventure and show them all the neat tricks you remember!

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout - PS4

These beans have taken the world by storm. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout pits 60 players against each other in a variety of silly obstacle courses and team challenges. In the end, one player gets the crown! It's a family-friendly battle royale game and one that never gets too frustrating.

The purple dragon is back

Spyro Reignited Trilogy - PlayStation 4

If you enjoyed Spyro when you were younger, it might be time to pass that enjoyment onto your children. Activision has remastered the first three games in the Spyro trilogy and modernized its graphics to better suit today's technology. The Reignited Trilogy is the perfect way to play these classic games.

LEGO fun!

LEGO Worlds - PlayStation 4

Any of the LEGO games are perfect for all ages. The stories and objectives are easy enough for your children to follow and fun enough where you'll want to plug in your own controller to play. That means this game isn't just a perfect reward system for your child to earn time playing for their excellent grades; it's also a great bonding experience.

Dance away some energy

Just Dance 2021

Just Dance is perfect for getting some quiet time for yourself because the kids are entertained. You'll also feel good knowing that they're actually up and moving too. All of the fun and wacky rave-style graphics are sure to get this party bumping. The multiplayer option makes this game great for when they have friends over as well.

My second platformer

Rayman Legends - PlayStation 4 Standard Edition

This side-scrolling platform game is sure to grab the attention of anyone. Your goal is to get to the finish line on the other side of the map while saving fury friends from impending doom. Not only does it have updated gameplay and graphics, but not much can get you more pumped than running from bad guys to the tune of Black Betty by Ram Jam.

Cook up some fun

Overcooked! 2 - PlayStation 4

Overcooked will always be on my list of some of the most fun family games to play when you're looking for time to kill on game night. With only three control buttons, this is a super easy game to pick up quickly. Although the levels do get increasingly complex (even for a group of adults), the amount of fun you'll have will triumph over any defeat.

Quite a knack

Knack 2

Knack has a ... well, a knack for transforming. He can grow 20 feet tall and shrink right back down again. This time around, there's co-op, so it's perfect for playing with your kid (or letting them play with a sibling) for some wholesome action and puzzles that encourage playing together well.

Have fun!

There are a ton of awesome games for PS4 that your kids will absolutely love. Now it's up to you to choose the one that's right for your particular child. If you just can't decide, you might want to go with Minecraft. Just about every kid in the world loves it, so it's kind of a no-brainer. It's also perfect if you've got just one kid or another who wants something to play with friends and siblings.

For just one kid, something like the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a good idea, giving them some classic fun platforming. You can also purchase some PlayStation Store digital currency, which is perfect for buying any digital game if you're having difficulty finding physical copies in stores. Then, when you're ready to upgrade to the next-gen console, you can find lots of great PS5 games for kids as well.
