Best New Games for Android

What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?
Update October 13, 2017: Unravel the mysteries found in Thimbleweed Park, then dive into the colorful RPG Lionheart: Dark Moon!

Thimbleweed Park

The long wait is over — Thimbleweed Park is here for Android! Featuring gorgeous pixel art and an engaging (and hilarious) murder mystery storyline, Thimbleweed Park is already a fan favorite on other platforms.
The game has you switching between five different characters who all happen to be in the small town of Thimbleweed Park. You start out playing federal agents investigating a dead body found under a bridge, but as you investigate the town and meet new characters a bigger mystery starts to unfold.
This is the game for those of us yearning for a great new narrative-driven game to play on our phone. This was a point-and-click game on PC so the controls have been modified for mobile and it does take some time to get used to but overall this is a fantastic port of an awesome game.
As you'd expect, a premium game comes with a premium price, and $9.99 might seem like a steep price to pay for a mobile game. However, consider the PC version is $19.99, so for half the price you get an outstanding mobile version you can play anywhere. When you think about it that way, you'd be a sucker not to play this game…right?
Plus — no ads, no loot crates, and no in-app purchases.

Lionheart: Dark Moon

It's always nice to see quality RPG content make its way onto the Google Play Store. Lionheart: Dark Moon is a free-to-play strategic turn-based RPG and the second game in the Lionheart series. It's a story-driven game in which you adventure through the lands of Lionheart building a battle-tested team to drive back the Darkness.
First off, the graphical style of this game is outstanding and the characters and enemies are well designed. It feels like a classic Final Fantasy game with controls optimized for mobile. As you progress, you are rewarded with keys to summon new heroes, along with potions, pets, and power-ups to help you on your journey. It's ad-free and while there are in-app purchases available they don't seem to come into play at all for the single-player campaign.
The story campaign contains eleven chapters with three difficulty levels to play through, and once you reach level 5 you unlock the Arena which opens up the online component of the game with leaderboard battles for weekly prizes. Suffice to say Lionheart: Dark Moon offers the player a ton of things to do.
